Art/Work ConferenceOne of our most exciting plans is the Art/Work Conference. We are working on putting together a weekend conference on art, the art world and the business of art for artists, art professionals and art lovers. The Art/Work Conference mission is to educate artists, arts professionals and art lovers; inform artists and organizations of resources available to them; engage the arts community in a meaningful way; promote South Florida as a serious art destination.

The conference follows an engaging and informative format of roundtables, discussions, panels, seminars and breakout sessions facilitated and led by acknowledged experts on a variety of subjects. It also includes time for networking and socializing. An art show is part of the conference, showcasing some of the best of South Florida art. Scheduled speakers insure that all aspects of the art world are covered, business, finance, technology, art appreciation, youth, promotion/sales/marketing and legal issues all as related to art and artists. The inaugural conference is scheduled for late summer 2013.

James Echols & Annette Peikert – Founders of Life is Art
James & Annette are life partners and each have 20+ years of experience as business-owners and event producers. James excels at building community by finding needs and strategizing creative ways to solve them. Annette excels in administration, logistics and execution. Her bubbly demeanor is a joy for everyone to be around!

James’ business skills coupled with Annette’s focus on the logistical details, work harmoniously to bring a highly sought after entrepreneurial spirit to the non-profit sector. For the past ten years, James and Annette have resided in the beautiful City of Miami Beach and have been fans of the burgeoning art scene from its inception. They have attended and helped with countless art fairs, festivals and events in Miami Beach, Downtown, Brickell and Wynwood to support this growing culture any way possible. Noticing that many of the local artists were being left out of these larger events, James & Annette decided to take their passion and expertise to establish Life Is Art in January of 2009.

Since that time, Life Is Art has produced, co-produced or participated in over fifty events of all sizes, including art shows, festivals, fairs, parties and educational seminars. Most recently, they co-produced the wildly successful PhilanthroFest that united 90+ South Florida non-profit organizations this past April in Wynwood.

James and Annette also established and continue to manage the popular community calendar website, Soul Of Miami. It was created entirely through organic methods and has become a beloved community resource attracting tens of thousands of active South Floridians every month! Their combined talent at marketing and production has allowed them to lead Life Is Art and Soul of Miami to success despite the too common grim stories of most start up non-profit organizations.

MarlyQ & Humberto Casanova- Founders of PARK Project
Marlene Quincoces, better known as “MarlyQ”, is an award winning event producer, social entrepreneur and philanthropist. She is brilliantly skilled at invigorating government & non-profit agencies by strategizing, orchestrating and executing systemized events that make a positive impact and unite local communities. This signature fundraising event was inspired by the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and united over 600 runners, hundreds of volunteers and dozens of corporate PARKners in just over three months! The inaugural event was featured on the front page of the Miami Herald and raised $13,000 in PARK Grants for five local non-profit organizations that serve our military, veterans, police, firefighters and service families. The 5K Freedom Run & PARK Festival is now established as an annual event and community tradition supported by Miami Dade County, the City of Doral and the US Southern Command among other prominent supporters.

Humberto Casanova is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the co-founder of PARK Project, business development director and creative marketing visionary behind the organization. He has produced countless of successful concerts for the past ten years for his rock band and is also part of a production duo for the famed “Mr. 305 Inc.”, Pitbull’s record label. He has shared the stage playing his Saxophone with legends like Herbie Hancock, Bobby Watson, Tito Puente Jr, Javier Batiz and Prince Emmanuel Aderele of Nigeria to name a few!

MarlyQ & Humberto share an impressive track record of success despite their young age and have over a decade of professional experience producing large-scale public, non-profit and corporate events in South Florida. They, too, are an unstoppable power couple fueled by a passion for service and community-building events that leave a mark.
