This year the Arts & Business Council is partnering with the Miami Beach Arts Trust to co-host an exciting new awards luncheon to honor and celebrate our cultural community. The luncheon will highlight arts and business partnerships with a special awards ceremony and feature an exciting keynote speaker. Proceeds from the event will create a special grant fund for the arts which will be administered by the Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council. All non-profit arts groups are eligible for funding for events, programs and performances that will take place in Miami Beach.

The White Aisle Foundation was established to honor the life of Rebecca Garrison-Sokoloff, found and owner of The White Aisle, who died of melanoma on November 13, 2011.

The foundation helps fund research that will lead to effective treaments and, ultimately, a cure for melanoma. Honoring the love and concern Rebecca had for the people of Cambodia, the foundation also supports charities that provide housing, education and health care for children and young women in that country.

Yo Miami presents A Taste of Film benefiting Life Is Art on Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Hello Life Is Art and Independent Film Fans!

We were just invited to be a part of this and we are very excited! Thanks to Yo Miami for the support and for putting this great film showcase together.

Just $10.00 gets you several short films, beer paired with each film, music, ping-pong, and a raffle ticket to win a piece fo art. Plus, a portion goes to support Life Is Art! How awesome is that?

For those of you who have not been to the new YO Space, it is a very cool arts co-op up in the northern part of Little Haiti. Looking for inexpensive studio space? Ask them about their options.

Yo Miami invites you to quench your thirst with A Taste of Film:
Combining two of our favorite things, beer and movies, we’re taking you on a flight of fancy that will showcase local film makers’ short films and pair each one with a beer that reflects the movie’s central theme.

We’ll have our very own resident beer expert on hand sharing some background on each brew as it’s served in between each short so that you can see why we paired them.

Buy a ticket to the short film showcase for just $10 and we’ll take care of the beers/refreshments, music and everything else you could possibly want in conjunction with watching movies and discussing them afterwards. So not only do you get a great experience checking out some local talent on the screen but you get a nice buzz to boot.

A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to Life Is Art the nonprofit organization whose mission is to “promote and support the arts and community in south Florida through events and education”.

Your $10 ticket also doubles as a raffle ticket, and the winner will get a custom piece of Yo Art.

Call For Artists
 Touching Miami with Love is announcing a call for artists for our A Touch of Art Show & Auction. Our 4th Annual event will be held Sunday, May 20th at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden from 3pm to 7pm.

We’ll showcase the creative works of our children and youth, host a live and silent auction, Be Your Own Artist sessions with established local artists for children and adults, live music, and artists creating works of art live. We will also debut our collaborative project, “Art That Feeds” where established artists create plates with a purpose to support our evening dinners for our youth program.

We offer artists a 50/50 split on work submitted for our silent auction. We are seeking a variety of artistic expression; however, we only have space for a limited number of works.

Life is Art invites you to PARK (Perform Acts of Random Kindness) for a needy child this Christmas by donating an unwrapped toy during Multiversal Miami Art Basel events thru December 4th.

PARK Project’s Santa and elves will deliver toys along with a kindness cards to underprivileged children in PARKnership with Miami Dade County Foster & Adoptive Parents Association.

Our goal is to collect at least 1,000 toys to spread a message of kindness, love and hope this holiday season.
