About Art Zoo 2011: “To celebrate the tenth anniversary year of Art Basel Week in Miami, I decided to create an event that would make guests smile, laugh and feel good”, remarks Hope Gainer of Hope International. “There is so much serious art and scenesters seeking the hottest parties during this action packed week, so I wanted to offer something on the lighter side and go in the opposite direction and bring in some furry friends to warm the heart and soul. After all, dogs are a man’s best friend.” “What better than to share your art passion with your ‘best friend’ ?” Attendees can bring their dogs to our exhibition and have them compete in the “Best Artsy Costume” competition. We will also have dogs available for adoption at the event. So if you don’t have a ‘best friend’, you can adopt one at our event!

We have extended invitations to a few celebrities who never seem to leave home without their doggies! Does Paris Hilton or Mickey Rourke come to mind?!

Education is another component of our event to relay the importance of spaying and neutering. Pet overpopulation is a serious problem in our country.

All of the art installations and performance art will have an animal related theme. Art Zoo 2011 will present a diverse selection of both renowned and emerging artists from around the world.

We invite you to “Help us save a life!”
Adopt, Foster, Donate thru Paws 4 You on Saturday, December 3!

ARTIST INFORMATION

Dianne Romero Buitrago
Dianne Romero Buitrago is an artist with an enriched American and Colombian culture. Born in New Jersey she moved to Florida as a very young child making it her permanent home. Her interest in art was sparked form a very young age as she saw her mother and aunt drawing and painting. As soon has her mother discover her talent she was introduce to the world of art. She obtained her Bachelors in Art education at Florida International University and then her Masters in art education. Dianne is currently working on a book while working as an artist and art educator for Miami Dade County Public Schools. Her passion and knowledge of the world of animation has inspired her to write her own graphic novel that she calls The F Book. Along side for the book she created the Peeps they are the characters that illustrates the book. In her drawing series she has a unique use of ink and a good sense of the human form that allows her bodies to lose all connections of the idea of the perfect body. Dianne’s artwork is a reflection of her experience working as a teacher but also a reflection of her self. She recognizes that every child’s culture is so unique and different and how we know very little about. Dianne experienced first hand the hardship of living in our society and the changes the body and mind makes from adolescence into adulthood.

Carlos Scott
Born in 1952 in the city of La Paz, Bolivia from Scottish and Spanish ancestry on his father’s side, and Australian and Irish ancestry on his mother’s, Carlos’ bicultural background and childhood experiences in those countries as well as here in the US have contributed to his artistic vision in subtle and varied ways. There is no specific subject or symbolic representation that he holds above all others. If his focus could be narrowed down to one thing it would be “Where art and photography converge” His work has evolved from producing strictly representational themes to include abstract, semi-abstract, and impressionist images that highlight textures, colors, and forms found in common every-day subjects. Among his current motifs you can find reflections in the Miami River, the natural decaying process of leaves and plants, as well as the natural effects of time, weather and oxidation on metals and other materials. Though they may retain strong aspects of their original forms, many of the images are striking for their divergence, or, transformation, if you will, into new forms, textures and colors that converge in a spectacular movement across the spectrum. Despite the diversity and unique interpretation of the subject matter, there is a consistent expression of style in this body of work that is evident in classic manifestations of form, color and textures.

Mulet
I was born in Holguin, Cuba. Studied Art at “El Alba” Art School in the same City. I worked as a graphic designer for the Government in the propaganda department. I participated in different Art Shows in Cuba. In the USA I got B.A. degree in Psychology from Florida International University. I have participated in Art exhibitions in Key West, Homestead, Miami, Fort Meyers, Georgia and New York. I owned and showed permanently for two years at MuletArt Gallery (across from MOCA), and also with other Artists. Some of my works are in private collections. I showed at “Der Kunstraum” Gallery in Vienna (Austria), France and the Show ‘Art in Prison” in Berlin.

Cassie Kazilla Williams
Kazilla aka Cassie Williams is a young artist whose style bounds between the street arts and fine arts. Originally from Santa Fe, NM she currently exhibits the breadth of her work in Miami, FL. After moving to the east coast her work has transcended the street arts and combined her two styles of fine art and graffiti to create an edgy, colorful clash of two very different worlds. The feminine figures, surreal landscapes and vibrant colors create a daunting visual feast for all audiences. She also works as a live artist, designer, muralist, photographer, producer, lyricist, singer and musician.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Life Is Art and PARK Project present a fantastic night of FUNdraising at a price anyone can afford!

Monday, June 2, 2011 (Miami, FL) – Some people talk about doing something, some people do. When they perceive a need, some people move to fill it, rather than just sit around complaining. This is how two local non-profits got started. Life Is Art and PARK Project were both founded out of recognition of a need not being filled. Though through different mission statements, two experienced event producers had the same intentions and chose similar paths with the goal of supporting the south Florida community.

“Culture builds communities,” says James Echols, co-founder of Life Is Art, Inc, a charity whose mission is to promote the arts through events and education. “People build communities,” says Marly Quincoces, co-founder of PARK Project, an organization that encourages people to Perform Acts of Random Kindness by producing events to raise awareness and funds for other charities. Now, these two young organizations have joined together to throw a spectacular fundraising party on June 18th, 2011 at the illustrious Surfcomber Hotel in Miami Beach.

It will be a dazzling night filled with art, entertainment and community! A prominent art show of over a dozen noteworthy south Florida artists will be one of the major attractions. South Florida boasts much amazing talent! DJ Robin Louis will provide music for the night and the event will headline a live music concert by Day Music Died, a smashing hot rock band. The Rainbow Circus will be providing acrobats, jugglers and will even have a trapeze show! There will even be fashion shows by designers Casey Levan and Aidana Baldassarre.

In addition to the plethora of entertainment, UV Vodka and El Dorado Rum will be providing complimentary beverages from 7:00pm to 9:00pm courtesy of AMC Liaisons, Inc. The party starts at 6:00pm and lasts thru 11:00pm, a full night of exciting FUNdraising. Unlike most fundraisers of this nature, however, the entry fee will be well within everyone’s reach. Tickets are just $10.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door.

The best part is that all of the money goes directly into building a community that loves service and culture. Everyone involved is volunteering their time and “PARKing” their resources for this event. The Surfcomber has donated their space and StarMar Events has donated production and management services along with ProSound Productions, Elegant Parties, Twilight Features and Logistical Outsourcing all donating their skills and supplies to make it a great night. Sex and the Beach, Erotic Signature, SocialBuzzTV, SocialMedia305 and Soul Of Miami are all donating their efforts to promote the event as every penny raised keeps Life is Art’s and PARK Project’s missions moving forward to continue making a lasting impact on the community.

The Surfcomber hotel is located at 1717 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139. For tickets and more information, please visit www.lifeisartfest.org or www.parkproject.org.
