“Get The Green Light” G*Spot Tour
www.gspotartproject.com for more info

(Miami, September 2011): Ten Miami-based Artists, Grolsch European Lager and curator Claire Breukel team up to give you the “go ahead” you’ve been waiting for. Wilder than the look on your face is Get The Green Light, an exhibition of ten works that make up the G-spot Tour. Are you blushing? This ambitious exhibition removed as many parameters as possible commissioning the artists to make work with just one rule: make anything and make it anywhere you want. The result is ten site-responsive works in ten different locations, just in time for the 10thanniversary of Art Basel Miami Beach. The exhibition opens with a G-spot VIP invite-only reception on November 10, 2011 at Ricochet bar and lounge and is supported in full by Grolsch European Lager.

The G-spot Tour is a scavenger hunt of 10 interactive and site-responsive murals and installations by artists Edouard Duval Carrie, Susan Lee Chun, Kerry Phillips, Domingo Castillo, Kyle Trowbridge, Loriel Beltran, TM Sisters, Pachi Guistinian and Grolsch SwingArtist 2011 Jaie Hwang. The tour spans 10 locations throughout Downtown, Wynwood Art District and the Design District, and include venues such as Little Haiti Cultural Center, Grand Central, the Historic Alfred Du Pont building, Dorsch Gallery, Ricochet, LegalArt, The Stage, Electric Pickle, Grand Central as well as public space (full map available for download on www.gspotartproject.com)

Without the hindrances such as limitation of space and concept eliminated, Get The Green Light serves as an open interface between the public, public space and artwork ultimately opening the way into a new chapter of interactive art. The result is ten dynamic and challenging art installations that push the boundaries of interaction to a new and inspired level, not only in the physical space but online as well. Visitors are invited to “find their G-spot” favorite by voting for their winner and posting pictures of their favorite artwork online at www.gspotartproject.com.

At a time when art becomes about everyone else coming to Miami, Get The Green Light has chosen to highlight artists working in Miami. Not only this, artists that are making work outside of convention modes of exhibition.

Filmmakers Wet Heat project, as part of Wet Heat TV, are creating a short movie of the Tour featuring a local cast and will debut at the opening event on November 10 at Ricochet bar and lounge.

The G*spot bike-ride will be organized in collaboration with Beached Miami and will take you by all 10 art-installations which will end at The Stage (date tbd).

Get The Green Light is made possible with the support of Grolsch, the Historic Alfred Du Pont building, Wet Heat TV, Alan Roth, Paul Jacober and Associates, Claire Breukel, Tina Acevedo as well as the participating artists and venues.

Life Is Art Joins Multiversal for Art Basel Week 2011

The week of Art Basel Miami Beach is arguably the biggest week for contemporary art in the world. It is certainly the biggest art week in the U.S.A. To best support the south Florida art community, Life Is Art has joined forces with KAZILLA of Multiversal Group and Laura Forero More Than Art Group to produce this very exciting art fair.

The Multiversal Art Fair features both established and emerging names from around the world. Their media spans the fine arts including: live art, paintings, urban art, contemporary mediums, sculpture, animation, photography, body painting, film/video and more. Around all of this will swirl a vortex of aerialists, burlesque and belly dancers, exhibitionists, extemporaneous theater, all to the rhythm of live and recorded music – truly a Multiversal human experience.

The fair is preceded by a number of pre-shows scheduled for throughout October and November. The pre-show series serves as a launch pad for the big fair, a vehicle to showcase more south Florida artists, and a fundraiser to build revenue to make Multiversal the biggest and best it can be.

Life Is Art was founded in January of 2009, specifically to help promote and support the south Florida arts. After producing many dozens of events in just a few short years, from networkers to seminars to art fairs, they have joined the biggest art week of the year. By combining efforts with other organizations, Life Is Art plans to provide even more exposure to the south Florida arts scene.

In its first year, over 4,000 visitor came to the grand gala in Miami’s modern district. Over 10,000 people attended second annual Multiversal Art Fair in 2010, in the heart of Wynwood, Miami’s design district. Fashion shows, music, performance and art abounded. For 2011, the team is planning an even larger spectacle.

This year Multiversal encompasses both indoor and outdoor spaces, including a tented exhibition and outdoor vending and performance arena. With the combined efforts of all three groups, this event is truly going to be a sight for all to see.

Life Is Art and PARK Project present a fantastic night of FUNdraising at a price anyone can afford!

Monday, June 2, 2011 (Miami, FL) – Some people talk about doing something, some people do. When they perceive a need, some people move to fill it, rather than just sit around complaining. This is how two local non-profits got started. Life Is Art and PARK Project were both founded out of recognition of a need not being filled. Though through different mission statements, two experienced event producers had the same intentions and chose similar paths with the goal of supporting the south Florida community.

“Culture builds communities,” says James Echols, co-founder of Life Is Art, Inc, a charity whose mission is to promote the arts through events and education. “People build communities,” says Marly Quincoces, co-founder of PARK Project, an organization that encourages people to Perform Acts of Random Kindness by producing events to raise awareness and funds for other charities. Now, these two young organizations have joined together to throw a spectacular fundraising party on June 18th, 2011 at the illustrious Surfcomber Hotel in Miami Beach.

It will be a dazzling night filled with art, entertainment and community! A prominent art show of over a dozen noteworthy south Florida artists will be one of the major attractions. South Florida boasts much amazing talent! DJ Robin Louis will provide music for the night and the event will headline a live music concert by Day Music Died, a smashing hot rock band. The Rainbow Circus will be providing acrobats, jugglers and will even have a trapeze show! There will even be fashion shows by designers Casey Levan and Aidana Baldassarre.

In addition to the plethora of entertainment, UV Vodka and El Dorado Rum will be providing complimentary beverages from 7:00pm to 9:00pm courtesy of AMC Liaisons, Inc. The party starts at 6:00pm and lasts thru 11:00pm, a full night of exciting FUNdraising. Unlike most fundraisers of this nature, however, the entry fee will be well within everyone’s reach. Tickets are just $10.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door.

The best part is that all of the money goes directly into building a community that loves service and culture. Everyone involved is volunteering their time and “PARKing” their resources for this event. The Surfcomber has donated their space and StarMar Events has donated production and management services along with ProSound Productions, Elegant Parties, Twilight Features and Logistical Outsourcing all donating their skills and supplies to make it a great night. Sex and the Beach, Erotic Signature, SocialBuzzTV, SocialMedia305 and Soul Of Miami are all donating their efforts to promote the event as every penny raised keeps Life is Art’s and PARK Project’s missions moving forward to continue making a lasting impact on the community.

The Surfcomber hotel is located at 1717 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139. For tickets and more information, please visit www.lifeisartfest.org or www.parkproject.org.

Life Is Art Showcases South Florida at The Shops at Boca Center on April 30th, 2011

A full day of art, music, fashion, performance and more!

Right now, South Florida is one of the most exciting and dynamic emerging art scenes in the world. With numerous art walks popping up all over the area, many mega art fairs and festivals, and the largest art week in the world, the eye of the art world is focused squarely on South Florida. Yet, much of the local talent is left out of the explosion of artistic opportunity. South Florida is the home of many, many truly talented artists, all with their own unique voice and style, but it seems as if, in our rush to be a big-time player on the world art stage, we sometimes forget what we have right here.

Life Is Art, through the support of The Shops at Boca Center and StarMar Events, inaugurates the first Life Is Art Boca Center South Florida Artist Fair to celebrate and showcase what our area has to offer. This is a day filled with art and entertainment, featuring dozens of accomplished south Florida artists of all types, from emerging to experienced to world-renowned. The event also includes live music, fashion shows and even circus performances, all for free!

“This is a great way for The Shops at Boca Center to give back to the community,” states Candace Goldstein, manager of the center. The Shops at Boca Center, an upscale luxury shopping and fine dining center, is donating the space for the art fair. James Echols, co-founder of Life Is Art, said, “We are very excited about this opportunity to expand our mission of supporting the south Florida art community.” Life Is Art is a non-profit founded in January of 2009 that is dedicated to providing opportunity for south Florida artists. All of this is made possible through the support of StarMar Events; a comprehensive Event consulting, production and management firm. “When Life Is Art approached us with their needs for this event, we were more than happy to contribute to such a worthy cause and organization” states Marlene Quincoces, Chief Planning Officer.

This will be a full day of arts, culture and entertainment. With over forty visual artists represented, there will be a feast for the eyes. However, it does not stop there. Fab C Productions is producing two fashion shows and will be showcasing several south Florida based designers with cool vintage fashions. Motivational Edge, a music non-profit serving children, is bringing their student band, SoMeTiMeS Y to perform.

To tantalize your taste buds, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly is doing a free tasting for all attendees. Renda Writer, publisher of WeMerge Magazine, is going to be doing a live poetry reading. As if all this were not enough, there is even going to be a circus performance! Rainbow Circus, a premiere south Florida performance troupe, is going to be performing live acts of amazement. The day tops off with live music by Krisp, a hot local band playing your favorites and original numbers. DJ Silvio will be supplying the tunes all day to create a perfect background for the event.

This is truly an event not to be missed. The Shops at Boca Center are located at 5150 Town Center Circle in Boca Raton, FL 33486. The fair is taking place in the lush courtyard, surrounding the fountain. It is happening Saturday, April 30th, 2011 from 10:00am to 7:00pm, or later. Admission is free and open to the public. Miami Art Museum and Miami Dade College InterAmerican Campus Form Collaboration
to Bring More Meaningful Art Opportunities to Student Body

Partnership Supported by MetLife Foundation Museum and Community Connections Grant

MIAMI – February 28, 2011 – Miami Art Museum and Miami Dade College’s (MDC) InterAmerican Campus will collaborate on a project that will create a unique bridge between the world of academia and the arts. Centered around Miami Art Museum’s upcoming Rivane Neuenschwander: A Day Like Any Other exhibition, the partnership will increase access and arts opportunities for Miami Dade College students, both on campus and at the Museum. The collaboration is made possible with support from MetLife Foundation Museum and Community Connections grant.

This partnership was formed to enhance the Miami Dade College, InterAmerican Campus Arts Institute and to provide Miami Dade College students with special access to Miami Art Museum and Brazilian artist Rivane Neuenschwander. This partnership will create an on-campus satellite exhibition of Neuenschwander’s video, Quarta-Feira de Cinzas/Epilogue (Ash Wednesday/Epilogue), 2006, bring the artist to the InterAmerican Campus to lecture and speak with art students, introduce students to the arts as a professional career opportunity, and enhance art activities at InterAmerican Campus. Miami Art Museum will also host all Miami Dade College students for a special college night at the Museum.

“The summer collaboration between the Museum and MDC InterAmerican Campus will give our students a unique opportunity to meet the visiting artist, Rivane Neuenschwander, enjoy more art experiences by attending many of the activities at the campus and MAM, bring an awareness of career opportunities in the world of art, and most importantly, broaden their vision and appreciation of modern and contemporary art,” said Michaela Tomova, Chairperson of Communication, Arts & Philosophy Department at the MDC, InterAmerican Campus. “We all look forward to the summer art activities which will bring Miami Art Museum to our students and community.”

Only eight grants were awarded to museums for imaginative exhibitions and educational public programming that extend their reach in diverse communities, making art part of people’s lives. Miami Dade College has over 170,000 students overall and is recognized for meeting the multiple and unique needs of Miami’s diverse population.

“MetLife Foundation has long understood that the arts and art education play vital roles in progressive communities and are particularly important in promoting community cohesiveness within diverse populations,” said MAM Director Thom Collins, “While this initial program focuses on the InterAmerican Campus, just three miles from the Miami Art Museum, our hope is that this partnership will pave the way for other vital, long-term collaborations.”

Miami Art Museum’s collection and artistic focus reflect the diverse population of its region, and its wide-ranging and powerful educational outreach programming serves more than 30,000 annually. Miami Art Museum is always free for students, and docent-guided tours are provided to college and university groups, free of charge.

Exhibition organization and support
Rivane Neuenschwander: A Day Like Any Other has been organized by the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York in collaboration with Irish Museum of Modern Art.

The presentation of the exhibition at Miami Art Museum is supported by donations to MAM’s Annual Exhibition Fund and a MetLife Foundation Museum and Community Connections grant. Additional support for educational programming is provided by Espírito Santo Bank.

Rivane Neuenschwander: Quarta-Feira de Cinzas/Epilogue (Ash Wednesday/Epilogue) is organized by Miami Art Museum in conjunction with the exhibition Rivane Neuenschwander: A Day Like Any Other (July 17 – October 16, 2011). Support for the installation is provided by a MetLife Foundation Museum and Community Connections grant.

Received this from the Arts for Learning organization. VERY important information about YOUR arts budget. Take action now! Contact the Arts Action Alliance- artsaction@gmail.com

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – -

Dear Friends and Supporters of Arts for Learning,
We need your help today! The proposed County budget eliminates $2.3 million of support for the grants programs of the Department of Cultural Affairs. These are important dollars that go toward the day-to-day work that Arts for Learning is engaged in; serving the more than 10,000 children we reach. These proposed cuts will impact our organization as well as many others in our community. If enacted, this would reduce grants by about 25% to more than 400 cultural organizations. Combined with last year’s budget cut, this would be a total reduction of about 40% to each grant or a loss of $3.7 million in cultural grants funds.
Here are some important actions you can take to help save the County’s cultural arts budget:
· WRITE. Personalize and send e-mails, faxes and letters to every County Commissioner, the Mayor and the County Manager about how the arts impact your life. (A sample letter and County contact list are below).
· CALL. Call every key County official and emphasize specifically how important County arts support is to you.
· TESTIFY. Attend and register to speak at the two upcoming County Commission Budget Hearings where the County’s budget will be discussed and finalized for the coming year. Both Budget Hearings are being held at 5:01 pm on Monday, September 13 and Thursday September 23 in the County Commission Chamber, 111 N.W. 1st Street, 2nd Floor. Crowds are expected so get there early and be prepared to wait to make your case. You will have two minutes to speak. Please wear a black shirt and Arts Action Alliance will be on site to provide you with bright ARTS SUPPORT stickers for you to wear.
If you have questions about this process or need more information please contact the Arts Action Alliance at artsaction@gmail.com.

Sample Message

[Please personalize this draft message – remember County Commissioners have told us that your personal stories have the most impact. I also suggest using just two or three of the bullet points included below as examples.]

Dear [ _______,]

I am writing to urge you to support the restoration of the proposed 25% cut to the Department of Cultural Affairs’ grants programs. I know that you have tough choices to make about next year’s budget but please know that the arts are part of the solution for re-energizing our economy and making our community great.

Here are a few important facts:

· Every dollar of County arts support leverages $27 dollars of other funds.
· Arts organizations generate a billion dollars in local economic impact annually.
· 12 million people attend arts events every year in Miami-Dade County.
· Other businesses depend on the arts. People who attend arts events spend more than a half a billion dollars, parking their cars, eating in local restaurants and shopping.
· Cultural activities provide more than 2 million experiences every year to the children of our county.
· Our community’s outstanding arts activities are giving Miami-Dade a worldwide competitive edge in attracting tourism and business.

Those are the economic facts. I also want to tell you about how important County support for the arts is to me [(or to my organization). Tell your story here].

What you do now will have an effect on the entire course of our economy and our community. I am counting on your support for maintaining funding for the County’s investments in the arts.

Thank you for your help.

This is really important, it means real, big benefit to our community. This money will be used to directly enhance the south Florida art scene and the community at large.

Please, tell your friends and family. Vote once per day. Two minutes. This not only allows us to create several large and inexpensive art shows, but will be catalyst to give us the ability to create more of events, networkers, seminars, art showcases, and to create more value in the long term, directly benefiting our artists, as well as the community as a whole. It will allow us to dedicate more hours to our mission of helping the south Florida arts. Help us help you!
