a taste of OUT in the Tropics

CALLING ALL SOUTH FLORIDA GAY, LESBIAN, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER PERFORMING ARTISTS!

We are looking for GLBT artists to perform at A Taste of Out in the Tropics showcase, a part of the Miami Beach Sleepless Night event, Saturday, November 7, 2009 (www.sleeplessnight.org). This showcase will take place at the Colony Theatre on Lincoln Road.

If you work in theater, dance, music, spoken word or film (there will be video projection), and what you do addresses queer content in any way you choose to define it, we’re interested. We are especially looking for work that is artistically adventurous and high quality, that tackles challenging issues of gender and sexual identity, contemporary social and political issues, or is just plain fun! A very special national musical artist will be coming to Miami to be featured at the evening as well, so this is a chance to share the stage with other great performers.

Artists’ sets must be in the 15-minute range with simple tech requirements so that a number of performers can be presented back to back. A Taste of Out in the Tropics is a preview of South Florida’s first full-fledged gay, lesbian, bi and trans contemporary performing arts festival, Out in the Tropics, coming to Miami in 2010.

Please contact Robert Rosenberg at Robert@tropicalwavemiami.com or (305) 532-7256 with questions and inquiries. Artists materials, including DVD’s and CD’s, can be sent to FUNDarte, 7601 Byron Avenue, #4C, Miami Beach, FL, 33141, attn: Out in the Tropics. A Taste of Out in the Tropics is presented by Robert Rosenberg/Tropical Wave Productions, in association with FUNDarte (www.fundarte.us) and MiamiARTzine.com, with the support of the City of Miami Beach.

Hello Everyone!

Happy 4th of July! Hope everyone has a great holiday. But, please remember that the Life Is Art call for artists ends in just about two weeks on July 17th. There is no cost to apply, simply go to the application page – http://www.lifeisartfest.org/blog/earth – and send in the necessary information.

EVENT DETAILS: Life Is Art and Metro 1 Properties present Earth Is Art
An Environmentally Artistic Miami Showcase
Hosted by the Green Resource Building Center
August 22, 2pm – 10pm
120 NE 27th Street # 200, Miami, FL 33137
http://www.lifeisartfest.org

This call is open to ALL styles of artwork. The event has an environmental theme, so we are encouraging art that has an environmental theme or subject, but this is NOT required.

Also, if you have applied for any of our previous shows, we encourage you to re-apply, whether or not you participated. We often only have a limited amount of space and cannot accommodate all of the great artists that we have. So, if you did not get into a previous show, please apply again! And, if you have been in one of our previous shows, you know how enjoyable and energetic they are. We hope to eventually be able to feature all of the awesome artists in south Florida.

The space we have for this show is really cool, it even has a parking lot! The interior is all industrial, glass and steel and concrete. We are very excited about this event and hope that you can join us. The link for the application is http://www.lifeisartfest.org/blog/earth. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us at art@lifeisartfest.org

We are also accepting applications for performers, musicians, singers, dancers, fashion designers, poets and all other disciplines of artistic expression. If you are interested in participating, please contact us at art@lifeisartfest.org
