It’s that time again!
Art at the Library: Exhibition proposals due March 10, 2010
Download a PDF of the  Proposal guidelines are here.

The Miami-Dade Public Library System is accepting proposals for exhibitions, performance art, and site-specific installations in all media. The deadline is 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 for exhibitions and performances to take place between January and December 2011.

The Library system’s exhibition program includes contemporary art, material culture, folk art, and art education (for example, exhibitions of student work organized by teachers or other educators), as well as exhibitions in the humanities about literary, historical, cultural, and interdisciplinary topics.

We welcome a diverse variety of proposals in all media. We are looking for proposals of high quality that demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the library environment as a public space. Adaptability and flexibility are great qualities for any artist, curator, or group exhibiting at the Library.

The Library also evaluates proposals with an eye for projects/exhibitions that
* get viewers to see things in new ways
* address themes that are relevant to a specific local community in an innovative way
* present traditional art forms that are rooted in a particular culture, place, or history
* experiment with new forms, and/or
* relate to language and literary themes, library collections, or the library as a site.

Life Is Art Essence Call for Artists, Performers, Musicians, Singers, Dancers, Poets, Fashion Designers, Acrobats and All Creative People

Life Is Art Essence Call for Artists, Performers, Musicians, Singers, Dancers, Poets, Fashion Designers, Acrobats and All Creative People

——

Life Is Art, in conjunction with Parafernalia Studios, is producing a very exciting event:
ESSENCE
an art walk after-party and fundraising freak-fest

Taking place on Second Saturdays, after the Wynwood & Design District Art Walks, this will be a place for all art lovers to come and continue to party and enjoy the arts. With all of the people in the area with nowhere good to go after the walks, this is a real opportunity to showcase some of the artistic talent that south Florida has to offer.

We are inviting all artists, of all disciplines, in to participate. We have space for visual artists to show, a stage for musicians, singers, poets and performers, room for fashion designers to display, decks for DJs to spin, and anything else that you might need! It is a very big venue, and we plan to fill it with creativity.

The event starts at 9:30pm and goes until we decide to quit. Set up will be earlier that day. The Parafernalia Studios are on NW 25th Street, right in the heart of Wynwood.

There will be a donation bar, music, seating and dancing, as well as art and performances by our participating artists. We would like this to become *the* event to do after the Art Walks. Of course, you are welcome to sell your work and other merchandise (CDs, DVDs, T-shirts), as long as it is related to your work.

There is NO fee to apply or to participate. If you are interested in participating in any way, please contact us at submissions@lifeisartfest.org right away. The first event is the Second Saturday in December, December 12, so it is coming right up. Space and time will be allocated depending on how many participants we have.

When you apply, be sure to include your name, your contact information, especially your phone number, a brief description of your art, and a link to your website.

Please pass the word to everyone who might be interested.

Thank you very much!
