From Jerry’s Artarama: Art for Haiti Auction and Gala Deadline March 20

Received this very good fundraising event for the victims in Haiti from Jerry’s Artarama. If you can participate and help out, please contact them at the information listed below.

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – -

Our hearts went out to the people of Haiti when the 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit. They need our help, so Jerry’s Artarama is sponsoring an art auction on April 10, 2010. The Raleigh Convention Center has donated a 5,500 sq ft room and Centerplate is catering the event. There will be art collectors and corporate sponsors in attendance and our goal is to raise $50,000. All proceeds from ticket and art sales will go to Habitat International’s efforts to rebuild Haiti.

Artist donations are the key to this event’s success. There will be both a live and a silent auction. To be considered for the live auction, work must be received by March 20, 2010. Live auction work should be no smaller than 20″x30″ and should not exceed 72″ in any direction. Live auction work is required to be framed (if necessary), prewired, and ready to hang. Wet paintings will not be accepted. We recommend that you submit big, bold, eye-catching work!

The deadline for silent auction submissions is March 28, 2010. Silent auction work is usually smaller (no larger than 20×30). Pieces must be 2D and have no moving parts. Wet paintings will not be accepted and we suggest (but do not require) that work be prewired and ready to hang. All unframed works on paper will be displayed with clips.

Please be sure to include your name, title of the work, medium, regular selling price, your web address, and business cards (optional). If you are submitting for the live auction, please include a short artist statement (no more than 100 words). The live auction will be juried and the selected 30 pieces will be featured in our program with a color image, info, and artist statement. After the auction, we will send you a thank you letter and receipt for tax purposes.

Thank you so much for your consideration. Please read more about the event on our website www.jerrysartarama.com/community/Art-Auction-and-Gala Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!

Kindest Regards,
ERICK PEGUERO

OPEN CALL TO ARTISTS – MAY 2010 SHOW – MASQUERADE
Curator & Founder of the Urban Individualists has an open call to artists of all 2D and 3D mediums. Title and Theme of show is Masquerade, show will take place in May 2010 at The Gallery 101 in Fort Lauderdale.
“Masquerade” Artworks will showcase masks depicting an artistic rendition of the “Carnival, Ceremonial, Spiritual and Traditional including masks people put on each day as a disguise or a false outward show. The exhibit is sure to be an original and uniquely vibrant and colorful show. It will represent masks of many sorts and some will be of the “unexpected an expected” “traditional and non-traditional”.
A Mask is a form of disguise. It is an object that is frequently worn over or in front of the face to hide the identity of a person and by its own features to establish another being. This essential characteristic of hiding and revealing personalities or moods is common to all masks. As cultural objects they have been used throughout the world in all periods since the Stone Age and have been as varied in appearance as in their use and symbolism.

The opening reception will be a “masked gathering” a “masquerade ball” multimedia art reception.

The deadline for submissions is April 2nd, 2010. You will be contacted with via email notifying you if your work has been accepted into the show.

About Us:
This artist collective was born from the vision of Helene Ruiz, an artist who resides and works out of her apartment in the Bronx, NY. Her vision is to assemble a group of artists, both visual and performing, into a collective body.
This group represents a multicultural network of collaborating individualists cohesively working as a unit. Ms. Ruiz has worked long hours to link her dream to the aspirations of others.
The Urban Individualists believe that we can make an impact in art as a collective body, separated only by our distinct styles. We have a voice that needs to be heard.
